It’s a very special weekend for Bianca O’Blivion. Not only will she be skating with the Carolina All-Stars when they take on the Dutchland Rollers on June 12, but she celebrates her birthday on June 13 with a visit from her hometown DC All-Stars. Come cheer on BO’B and the rest of the All-Stars at Dorton Arena on Saturday, June 12 and hang around to sing Happy Birthday on Sunday when the All-Stars take on DC at the Skate Ranch.

It’s not too late! Save money and get your tickets in advance!

Q: How long have you been involved with the sport?
BO’B: I have been a skater with the Carolina Rollergirls since the end of 2006.

Q: What is your educational background?
BO’B: I studied in Architecture & Art History.

Q: What do you do to pay the bills and buy the wheels?
BO’B: I work at an engineering firm.

Q: Do you have any pets?
BO’B: I have two cats and a dog.

Q: Where are you likely to be found out and about in the Triangle?
BO’B: I enjoy a good rock show.

Q: What hobbies do you have when you aren’t at the rink?
BO’B: I like collecting mid-century chairs and talking about riding my bicycle(s).

Q: What is one bad habit you wish you could break?
BO’B: I wish I would stop looking to buy vintage chairs.

Q: Do you watch other sports?
BO’B: I very much enjoy watching MMA.

Q: What do you like to rock out to while skating at speed practice or cleaning the house?
BO’B: Lately, I like to robot dance to minimal wave records while my husband cleans the house and asks me repeatedly, “what is wrong with you?”

Q: Have you had any major injuries because of roller derby?
BO’B: One of my arms no longer moves in the manner it is supposed to.  It’s more of a slightly painful inconvenience than anything else though.

Q: Who has been your greatest inspiration to push yourself and train?
BO’B: I push myself and train hard for, well, me.

Q: Is it more important to win or to give it your all and learn something?
BO’B: There is never an excuse for not “giving it your all” and winning is a lot easier if you’ve learned some things.  So, the latter.

  1. So that’s why we are having the hang over bout on the 13th. It makes so much sense now!
