CRG is Pretty In Pink

Hey, Carolina Rollergirls fans, this weekend, June 11, is a HUGE weekend for CRG!

We’re hosting a charity bout benefiting the Pretty in Pink Foundation and it’s going to be fun, fun, fun!  Dorton Arena will be decked out in pink and we’ve got some exciting things in store for you!  Look at all those exclamation points; it’s going to be crazy kinds of awesome!

3:00 PM marks the start of the day with some home team fun as the Trauma Queens line up against the Tai Chi-tahs.  Plan on seeing new faces on the home teams as this will be the debut bout for Try Saratops, Pixie Vicious and Dot Bomber.  Be smart and get there early for the opening bout; support the Carolina home teams and their fresh meat.

At 5:00 PM we present the undefeated, 10 and 0, Carolina All Stars who will be taking on the Tallahassee All Stars.  The All Stars are coming off two enormous wins against the DC Rollergirls (233 / 34) and Richmond’s River City Rollergirls (291 / 45) and they’re looking to add another notch to their knee pads against Tallahassee.  Cheer the All Stars on to another strong Carolina victory.

Outside of great skating there will be an outstanding silent auction with items from the Durham Bulls, NC State Athletics, Tir Na Nog, Lonerider Brewery and your own CRG skaters.  And let me tell you, the skater donated items are pretty fantastic. But, you have to be there to see them and bid on them.  We will also have a bake sale with delicious morsels of yum baked by the CRG skaters (baked goods taste great with a nice cold beer from Lonerider). Not only can we skate but we can craft and bake too!  All proceeds from the silent auction and bake sale will be donated to the Pretty in Pink Foundation.

So… what is the Pretty in Pink Foundation exactly?  Pretty in Pink Foundation is a local non-profit organization that helps uninsured and underinsured women with breast cancer pay for treatment.  You read that correctly, the money raised by the foundation goes directly to patients for their medical treatment. That’s pretty amazing.

Why is this charity important to us?  The Carolina Rollergirls mission statement says quite clearly; “The Carolina Rollergirls is a 501c3 non-profit organization promoting the physical & mental strength and independent spirit of women.” The Pretty in Pink Foundation has provided CRG another way to support and promote strong, healthy women.  Part of the ticket sales from this bout will be donated to the Pretty in Pink Foundation.  Support CRG in helping breast cancer patients get the medical treatment they need.
